The CSWR paper prize is a monetary award funded by CSSW alumni for an exceptional paper submission, to be published in the CSWR, addressing an issue of power, race, oppression and privilege, and proposing an innovative intervention, theory, or approach to address the issue identified.

All journal submissions will automatically be considered for the prize. The prize winner will be chosen after all selected authors participate in the rigorous editorial process in collaboration with an assigned editorial team. Prize selection will be based on the final version of all articles. The prize recipient will be recognized as the inaugural prize winning paper in the CSWR print version and online.

Selection criteria for CSWR prize:

  • The paper clearly identifies a pertinent issue related to power, race, oppression and privilege
  • The paper makes a unique and thoughtful contribution to discourse about an intervention to address the identified issue OR takes a novel theoretical or conceptual approach to understanding the identified issue
  • The paper is rigorously researched and well written, conforming with the conventions of academic journal writing
