Volume 7: DPT Student Self-Efficacy and the Clinical Learning Environment

A keystone component of physical therapy education is the inclusion of clinical experiences. In these experiences, students learn to apply knowledge from their didactic coursework and develop crucial clinical reasoning skills. What factors of the clinical learning environment are associated with student self-efficacy in clinical reasoning? Stoddard, et al. conducted a quantitative exploratory study to assess correlation between the Physical Therapy Self-Efficacy Scale and components of the abbreviated Clinical Learning Environment Inventory-19.
