Three Stories of Prostitution in the West: Prostitutes’ Groups, Law and Feminist “Truth”

Abstract

Prostitution is a paradigmatic feminist issue with substantial legal ramifications, yet it is largely ignored in legal and feminist literature. This Article attempts to lessen that problem by considering prostitutes’ own strategies to improve the lives of women in prostitution. It considers how women in prostitution have organized into groups to represent their interests to wider society. By discussing these arguments within the broader context of feminism, I hope to pique further discussions about prostitution and its relationship to feminist theories and practices.
