Jesse Chevan is a PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology at Columbia University whose work focuses on Black sacred sounds and the history of American racio-religious imaginaries. His current research seeks to understand the continuum of human and instrumental voices within the sacred trombone shout band tradition of the United House of Prayer for All People. Jesse also performs regularly on drumset in a wide variety of styles around the New York area.
