Jon Churchill is a PhD candidate at Duke University where he studies the formal and rhetorical functions of musical discontinuity, as well as the intersection of such nonlinearity with broader sociocultural currents. Currently focused on the role of disjunction in British Modernism, specifically Ralph Vaughan Williams’s symphonies, his other interests include UK Grime and the music of Per Nørgård. Of late, Jon has contributed the preface to a new edition of Frank Bridge’s Dance Rhapsody (Musikproduktion Höflich, 2020) and presented his work on musical discontinuity across the United States and Europe.
