Michael Gale, Open University

Michael Gale is currently an Honorary Research Associate in Music and an Associate Lecturer at the Open University (UK). His doctoral dissertation (University of Southampton, 2014) explores the role of instrumental tuition in constructions of social status in Elizabethan and Jacobean England. Although his primary field of research is musical education/training and the evolution of the music profession across early modern Europe, he also continues to cultivate an interest in the development of computer-assisted tools for musicological research.
