Fall 2022: Call for Submissions

The Columbia Journal of Asia (CJA) is currently accepting submissions for its second issue! CJA is an open-access, peer-reviewed platform for creative and academic pieces on Asia, the Asian diaspora, and comparative studies broadly related to Asia. It addresses an urgent need for more representation and understanding of Asian narratives, not in isolation, but as an integral part of the study of humanities and social sciences in academic and artistic circles.

We welcome both academic papers and creative works. Academic papers can be submitted as “notes," shorter essays of 1,500-4,000 words, or “articles,” longer papers of 4,000+ words. Creative works must be under 2,000 words, and including visual art, poetry, prose, and original translations. Current undergraduate students and recent graduates (Class of 2022) from all majors, tracks, and class years at any accredited university are encouraged to submit.

The regular deadline for submissions is September 23, 2022, by 11:59 PM EST. The priority deadline is September 9, 2022, by 11:59 PM EST. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and all applicants will hear back about the status of their submission by early October.
