submit

Voices in Bioethics is currently seeking submissions on philosophical and practical topics, both current and timeless. Papers addressing access to healthcare, the bioethical implications of recent Supreme Court rulings, environmental ethics, data privacy, cybersecurity, law and bioethics, economics and bioethics, reproductive ethics, research ethics, and pediatric bioethics are sought. Submissions about the COVID-19 pandemic should address racial disparity, access to education or health care, vaccination ethics, pandemic preparation or prevention, and issues as the intersection of law, policy, economics, and liberty. All papers must be analytical, highlighting a problem with the status quo, addressing a controversy, or offering new frameworks and analysis. Our submissions guidelines, requirements, and tips can be found here.

Please also see our Voices in Bioethics Podcast (columbia.edu) where we interview thought leaders with an eye to projecting personal stories as well as addressing professional ethical dilemmas.

Voices in Bioethics operates in partnership with Columbia University Libraries. With renewed focus on academic strength, we aim to contribute to the array of bioethics literature by continuing to publish op-eds and research essays that challenge the reader to explore novel viewpoints. Voices in Bioethics brings together diverse views through an academically rigorous online format and seeks to identify issues and present workable long-term solutions. Our pieces cover all aspects of bioethics from clinical to philosophical, addressing timeless ethical dilemmas as well as current challenges.

Voices in Bioethics applies a strong process of editing and peer review to produce academic pieces with novel arguments while encouraging students pursuing an MS in bioethics at Columbia University to engage in the research process. As always, Voices in Bioethics will publish works by leaders in the bioethics field as well as those with perspectives from fields outside of medical ethics and outside the sciences.
